Evaluation – Final Film

For this project we had to create a digital film and take an experimental approach.
In 8 weeks I explored 3 different types of animation and expand an idea of my chosen topic for visual communication.

Before coming up with the final film I created three excremental films, Montage, Emotive and Abstract. By doing this I have come up with art styles, different methods of animation and develop skills in film making. I combine all three of my films into 1 final piece of work.

With this idea I wanted to show the negative and the positive side of my topic “Dyslexia”
by using stop motion, moving images and sound effects really help bring the film to life with its unique method of film making.

The two main programs I used for this coursework we’re Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop for editing and animation. This has help me gain more knowledge of the software and has really improved my editing skills since last term.

For research I watched other artist work on YouTube, the films I looked at we’re Muto a wall-painted by BLU, Gutenberg and Gutenberg By Amalie Vilmar. I also looked at motivation video about dyslexia to help me get a better understanding on how people feel about this particle subject.

The Plot

The beginning starts with a text book (History Book) and it starts to open and pages start to turn. There is where you will see the text of the book start to look unclear and become difficult to read and by listening to the sound in the background you really feel the since of frustration happening in the scene.

The second half of the film is where you see the positivity start to change.
In some ways there’s a hidden message that tells us that even though “You are clever but in other things” and shows people’s talents on screen.

The Feedback

I was given very positive feedback on this piece of work, they advise me to do some small changes by adding a couple of more scenes to help the audiences see the negativity change.
They also said thought the title was un-necessary but I decided to keep it in the film as part of the end credits and to also help tell the audiences what the topic of this film is in case they were misled.

I didn’t really have any issues with this project apart from export the right size file to a HD 1080p file. If I have any trouble with the software I was lucky to read or watch tutorials online. This also made me more organised when come to saving my files on my hard drive.
By not saving my files in one folder result to Premier pro slow down and sometimes crash.
